Contact your Agent and/or your Insurance company as soon as possible. Remember that your damages must exceed your deductible of your Insurance policy. If your home sustained minor damage(s), take complete pictures of the damage so your adjuster is better able to assist you in settling your claim. If possible, make temporary repairs to your home to prevent further damage. Request receipts for all purchases or services required to make the temporary repairs and be prepared to provide them to the adjuster. To prevent mold, you may want to remove any wet carpet from your home. Save a small piece of the carpet for the adjuster. Be sure to photograph any damaged contents that you remove from your home.
